Thoughts on the King v. Burwell Supreme Court Ruling

Baptist Memorial Health Care, along with the American Hospital Association and Tennessee Hospital Association, has been carefully following the King v. Burwell case with great anticipation of its outcome and the impact that it would have on its affected populations.

We are thankful for the Supreme Court’s decision not to overturn subsidies, especially when Tennesseans and Mississippians on the health care exchange don’t have access to a state run health exchange. Individuals enrolled in federal health exchanges would have lost the subsidies that many use to purchase insurance.

We will continue to work with state leaders to provide access to resources and preventive care for those patients who rely on the health care exchange.
