Baptist Memorial Health Care Celebrates National Wear Red Day with Babies Go Red

Feb 6 • 2015

In honor of National Wear Red Day, representatives from the American Heart Association provided red beanies to babies at Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women and Baptist Memorial Hospital – DeSoto. Additionally, free literature about heart disease was provided to the mothers.

The Spence and Becky Wilson Baptist Children’s Hospital features rotating lights that change colors; all month long, these lights will shine red in honor of American Heart Month. This new facility opened to the public on January 28th and features a pediatric emergency room, outpatient services, and diagnostics. Services offered include care for a variety of issues, like broken bones, fever, strains, tears, sprains, flu, respiratory illness, dehydration, lacerations, and more.

National Wear Red Day was launched by the American Heart Association to raise awareness of heart disease in women. Celebrated the first Friday of February each year, the day is intended to bring attention to the facts surrounding heart disease, encourage women to know their cardiovascular risk, and provide information on how women can take action to live longer, healthier lives.
