The Spence and Becky Wilson Baptist Children’s Hospital Now Accepting Patients

The newest addition to Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women, the Spence and Becky Wilson Baptist Children’s Hospital, is now open to the public and accepting patients. The emergency room is a 17,000 square-foot space with 10 bays for patient care and a 2,000 square-foot diagnostics area. It is staffed all day, every day, with pediatric emergency medicine physicians, pediatric hospitalists, and other specialists like a pediatric general surgeon and pediatric anesthesiologist.
The pediatric emergency room offers care for numerous conditions, including:
- Broken bones
- Sprains
- Strains and tears
- Fevers
- Dehydration
- Lacerations
- Flu
- Respiratory illnesses
A pediatric outpatient center called P.D.’s Perch features a child-friendly environment and play area with amusic system where kids can listen to their favorite songs, watch videos, play, or relax.
Pediatric outpatient services and diagnostics include:
- A full-service lab, drawn by pediatric nurses
- Fluoroscopy exams
- Respiratory care
- Interventional radiology procedures
- Nutrition counseling
- Audiology
- Catheterizations
- IV infusions
- Intramuscular and subcutaneous injections
- Moderate sedation and general anesthesia
- Diagnostic X-rays, CT scans, EKG, MRI, and ultrasounds
